The Power of Kindness challenge

Draw your ‘kindness superhero’ and be in with a chance of watching it come to life!

Have you ever felt the power of kindness? It could be a friend helping you with homework or a parent giving you a cuddle to cheer you up. However big or small, we believe that everyone can do their bit to spread a little kindness.

We’re working with our fantastic partner, Place2Be, as part of Children’s Mental Health Week, to encourage everyone to join in this year’s campaign to spread a little kindness to the people around them.

Kindness is extremely powerful so we want you to design your own kindness super hero (boy, girl or animal!) and tell us what makes them special. One lucky winner will see their character brought to life by BAFTA winning animation studio, Blue-Zoo.

Download the character design sheet here. If you need some inspiration, Ben Shires and Katie Thistleton have drawn their own super heroes.

We can only accept entries which include a parent or guardian’s email address.

Top Tips from one of the judges – Adam Shaw (Blue-Zoo):

  1. Think through your character’s special power before you start drawing. Why are they kind? Great hugs? Good listener?
  2. You can keep it simple. Sometimes the best animation comes from very simple outline drawings.
  3. Use colour but think about why you’re using it. Does yellow, red or green work best for your character’s personality?

The Prize

One lucky winner will see their superhero turned into an animated character by our BAFTA award winning friends at Blue-Zoo. The new kindness superhero will be featured on the website and at BAFTA Kids roadshows all around the country.
